The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships 2027–28 support graduate study at the University of Oxford alongside an intensive Leadership Programme. The opportunity brings together talented graduates and professionals who want to use their education to improve public life.
Host: University of Oxford and Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust
Location: Oxford, United Kingdom
Study level: Eligible full-time graduate courses
Funding: Full course fees, living-cost grant and leadership training
Deadline: The relevant December or January application deadline for your chosen course; there is no single scholarship deadline
What does the scholarship cover?
The Oxford-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann award covers 100% of course fees and a living-cost grant currently listed at at least £21,805, for the agreed course’s fee-liability period. The scholarship also supports participation in the Leadership Programme.
Partner awards, including Chevening-linked schemes, can have separate conditions and funding arrangements. Check the terms of the award offered to you rather than assuming that every partnership provides an identical package.
Who can apply?
You need an offer for an eligible new full-time Oxford graduate course and ordinary residence in an eligible country. Refugee or displaced applicants may be assessed by eligible nationality. Applicants should intend to return to their country of ordinary residence and connect their studies with a career that contributes to public life.
Deferred offers for 2027–28 are excluded. Current Oxford students are normally ineligible unless already Weidenfeld-Hoffmann scholars. Check the complete eligible course and country lists before choosing a course.
There is no general age limit and employment experience is not compulsory. Applicants still need to meet their course’s academic and English-language requirements. The programme focuses on selected master’s-level study; it does not fund DPhil applications.
Leadership and selection
Strong applicants explain the change they have already helped create and how further study will strengthen that impact. Show how your course fits your career goals, and give concrete examples of initiative, teamwork, communication and responsibility.
The Leadership Programme adds around 200 hours of professional development, discussion and cultural activities to the academic year. Its core activities are compulsory, including commitments before the normal academic year begins in September and through July. Applicants should be ready to manage both academic study and programme participation.
How to apply
- Check your course and country eligibility, then find the course’s relevant December or January deadline.
- Select Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme in the scholarship section of Oxford’s graduate application.
- Complete the 2027/28 Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships Statement linked from the scholarship page.
- Upload the statement with your graduate application and submit by your course deadline.
Apply through Oxford, rather than sending an application directly to the Trust. Shortlisted applicants should be available for an interview, provisionally online in April 2027. Decisions are expected by the end of May 2027. Waiting-list applications and applications held for March reassessment are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
Other Trust-supported opportunities
The Trust also works with partner scholarships and has announced a dedicated award for Afghan women leaders of first- or second-generation descent. This award has separate instructions; review its dedicated application guidance and Oxford’s current updates before applying. Do not assume that the main scholarship’s process automatically covers this route.
