Funding and eligibility
The scheme supports collection-based projects across disciplines. Applicants normally hold a completed PhD; those with an established academic research record may also be considered. Independent and emeritus scholars can apply. Fellows arrange their own visit and claim eligible travel, subsistence and reasonable research expenses, subject to the University’s travel policy.
Up to three William Lind Foundation fellowships support Scottish business history. Awards are peer reviewed, with decisions expected by the end of January 2027. Fellows must acknowledge the award in resulting publications and provide a short research report.
What to prepare
The online form requests contact and institutional details, plus the following:
- A research proposal of 500–1,000 words, within the form’s 6,000-character limit, explaining the project and why Glasgow’s collections matter to it.
- Details of relevant collections or individual items, with catalogue references or links.
- Potential public engagement activities arising from the research.
- A budget in pounds sterling, separating travel, accommodation and other costs and giving the overall total.
