  • Prepare academic transcripts, secondary school diploma, CV, a French or English motivation letter and two to four recommendations.

Application dossier specifications

  • Secondary-school diploma, university academic transcript and CV.
  • A reasoned motivation letter of one to three pages, in French or English, using Times New Roman 12-point type and 1.5 line spacing. Explain why you wish to join ENS and your chosen department, intended courses, research interests and any secondary discipline.
  • Two to four recommendations, requested from referees through OnePSL30 using their email addresses.
  • Combine the required supporting documents into one PDF and use the upload instructions provided after the initial application.
  • Use an email service other than iCloud for both candidate and referees.

The jury first assesses the dossier. Shortlisted candidates then complete the written and oral assessments, with admission determined by examination results. Exceptional non-standard academic backgrounds may be considered with the ENS Director’s authorization.
